Dr Deon Smith - Clinical Trial Investigator at Genesis Research Services

Welcome, Dr Deon Smith

Dr Deon Smith recently joined the Genesis team from Melbourne, bringing over 30 years of clinical trials experience. Prior to working in clinical trials, he worked as a General Practitioner in his native South Africa, as well as Australia and Ireland, across diverse settings including emergency and orthopaedic care, rural and remote practice, prisoner medical care, urban general practice, and education for medical students and registrars. He served as an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practice for 20 years.

Being a GP allows Deon to be involved in trials in various fields, including rheumatology, endocrinology, cardiovascular disease, dermatology, urology, haematology, neurology, weight loss, and vaccines.

New Publication

Subwave 12-Month Clinical Trial Results

The final results of our investigator-initiated study on a new spinal cord stimulation waveform for chronic neuropathic low back pain have been published.

After one year, there were significant improvements in quality of life and health overall. 66% of participants reported at least a 50% reduction in their pain, and 57% of participants had at least an 80% reduction in pain.
